Meet the Team: Michelle Butler, LCSW
Welcome to another edition of Meet the Team! This is a fun opportunity to get to know our clinicians outside the office! Today, we are hearing from one of our clinicians, Michelle Butler, LCSW. Take it away, Michelle!
What is your ideal/favorite morning routine?
The mornings are my absolute favorite time of day. I enjoy waking up early and finding some sort of movement that feels good. I often go on a walk outside while listening to an audiobook or go to a hot yoga class. I make coffee and breakfast for myself and my two little boys. We typically have some time together in the morning, either listening to their Yoto podcast or their favorite music. If it’s the weekend, a long walk outside and brunch at Patachou make for the perfect morning.
If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I am a lover of breakfast food at any meal! Eggs, avo toast, and coffee at any meal sounds incredible.
What is your practice style, including any specific approaches?
My approach is collaborative and rooted in the belief that clients are the experts of their own story. I trust in their innate wisdom and see my role as a partner in helping them reconnect with that intuition. I primarily work from an Internal Family Systems (IFS) lens and integrate principles of intuitive eating to support healing from the inside out.
How did you decide to become a therapist?
I’ve always been drawn to people’s stories—especially their relationships with their bodies, the tangled web between shame and self-worth, and figuring out how to feel at home in your own skin. Becoming a therapist felt like a natural fit. I help people get curious about the places they feel stuck and work with them to build compassion, gently softening the harder edges. And if we can laugh a little while doing the deep stuff? Even better.
What can clients expect when they work with you?
Clients can expect me to hold a space that feels anchored and safe. And along the way, we’ll find room for laughter and joy as we build new skills and neuropathways that bring more stability, connection, and peace.
What is your superpower(s) as a therapist?
I have found that my intuition and curiosity have served my clients well as a therapist. I am able to get into their world and empathize well with them, and hopefully infuse some compassion and curiosity.
What’s your dream vacation destination?
My husband and I had a trip to Banff National Park booked for March 2020 (obviously had to cancel this trip). We still want to take this trip and hike through Banff and Jasper National Parks.
